Dechorination method

One of the basic in aquarium keeping is the dechlorination of water use in the fish tank. Chlorine are presence in the tap water it is mend to kill the germs and other harmful microorganism in the water which cannot be filter out. Yet, those chlorine is fatal to aquarium fishes and need to be remove from the water by all means. Some beginners in the fish keeping hobby make the fatal mistake of using tap water in their fish tank before dechlorinate it.There are a few ways to remove chlorine from the water, either by chemical means or naturally.

Anti-Chlorine conditioner

The most common method are using anti-chlorine conditioners, this can be found on most fish stores and it is inexpensive. Usually, a cap full of chlorine is able to treat a 2 ft aquarium tank, but it varies among different brands of anti-chlorine conditioners, so check the labels carefully before using it.

Evaporation

This method is commonly use when treating a huge amount of water. The tap water containing chlorine are being left in a huge water containers for a few days, this allow the chlorine to evaporate from the water and make the water fish-safe. it is a cheaper method compare to using anti-chlorine conditioner.
