Spotted gar are among the few fish that have hard ganoid scale, it also have a crocodile-like month which it use to catch prey by ambushing. Keeping one in your aquarium won't be too hard as it is actually very hardy. Do not keep it with smaller fish but it can live together well with other big fishes. Watching it catching its prey is very interesting, it likes feeder fish.
